Boys Are Lazy

"Girls are like apples…
the best ones are at the top of the trees.
The boys don’t want to reach for the good ones
because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt.
Instead, they just get the rotten apples that are on the ground that aren’t as good, but easy.
So the apples at the top think there is something wrong with them,
when, in reality, they are amazing.
They just have to wait for the right boy to come along,
the one who’s brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree…“

Just Be "You" Baby

"It's so easy to misconstrue even the tiniest words & actions when your attempting such a fragile part of a relationship with hundred of miles between the two of you. When it comes down to it, he has to work harder than he would if I were just up the street to keep me. I've got cities full of people I am going to interact with & if he wants me to keep that "reserved" sign on my heart for him, he better be absolutely sure & make it absolutely clear"

I cannot help but feel the way I feel when I meet someone who literally takes my breath away. When this happens, one is expected to act like they are totally unaffected by the fact that this person have completely altered the inner workings of their heart. That when this person kisses them, the feeling is as though small balloons and streamers might come bursting out of the heart Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade style, is unmoving. I find this to be very difficult. I have a hard time dealing with the person I am supposed to be and the person I actually am. Someone once said to me "just be you baby." That seems like it should be something really easy to do. Am I the only person having trouble with this?

Maybe?

And maybe I'll sleep at the station because there's nothing to go home to
but an empty fridge and some stale mayonnaise.

And maybe I'll make friends with the guys sleeping under cardboard boxes and newspapers
and we'll discuss what it means to love and to live.

And maybe I'll wander the city, one lost particle in a dust storm of Mondays, late nights and reports due yesterday.

And maybe I'll get on a plane or a ship and get lost in places I've never been lost in before.

And maybe I'll keep my phone on me in case you call.
And tell me there's something to come home to.

Christmas List Pt. 2

The Rules.

Deadjournal.

Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you. Now it means you’re pretty, sexy, & you’re taking your time deciding how you want your life to be & who you want to spend it with.

The Man of My Dreams

"She really does like him, she likes lying next to him, she wants to be around him; when you get down to it, can you say that about many people?"

Killing Yourself To Live

"There is always one person you love who becomes that definition. It usually happens retrospectively, but it happens eventually. This is the person who unknowingly sets the template for what you will always love about other people, even if some of these lovable qualities are self-destructive and unreasonable. The person who defines your understanding of love is not inherently different than anyone else, and they’re often just the person you happen to meet the first time you really, really, want to love someone. But that person still wins. They win, and you lose. Because for the rest of your life, they will control how you feel about everyone else."

November 8th.

"I can’t help but still think of you whenever the month of November comes around—it has you written all over it, it smells like you, tastes like you, brings back all the urges I’ve ever had to be with you in the only way you allowed me to be with you (but nothing satisfied me more than that) and somehow it just eases you back into my skin. You always had a way of finding your way there, and I always had a place waiting for you, every time.

But I hate that because in a way, it’s like you’ve won. And all you had to do was open the door, step right in, and slip your way (in &) out just before sunrise and in the simplest way you could while leaving me with a heart of complications.

And even though I always knew we would never be much, I guess the hope was/is and maybe will always sort of still be there, as long as the attraction is, as long as the thread still feels connected.. or as long as my heart finally decides it’s time to let go.

In the meantime, who knows when that will be. All I know is that our former morning meetings of coffee and tea to our secret nights of trysts and drunken debauchery is something I still keep with me whenever I think of you in memory and will mostly always come back to haunt me whenever the wind starts to get chilly, and the leaves start to change colors. Because since you, November has never been the same."

Sleep

This is how I feel when I go to sleep. There's a million thoughts racing through my head as I wrap myself in my favorite blanket. And it is as if, all these memories, ideas, and wishes can light up a city. They race through my head and tire me. Then I can finally sleep.
